Hi--
Just registered the pro version.....has been working great through the trial and will be a good replacement for web capture archives that we had in Onfolio.

I saw this in the version history:
Quote:
PDF files are now archived independently from Internet Explorer technology (which could cause problems for some PDF files)

and tried to capture a pdf (actually the invoice pdf for LWA).

PDF was saved locally and open in IE7. Clicked the IE toolbar button to add to LWA. LWA add window pops up and seems to be populated correctly but when I click continue an error message pops up: "Error Adding Document to Local Website Archive".

Is there a different method to add a pdf or am I missing something?

System info: XP Pro sp2 with all current windows updates, IE7, Adobe Acrobat CS3, LWA pro 2.1.1

Thank you for a great product.

There are no special options for archiving PDF files.

Do you have this problem with all PDF files, or was it only that specific one?
I ran a test now and everything worked fine (XP SP2 and IE7).

I tried several pdf files with same results. The machine I am using has the full version of acrobat (adobe acrobat 8 professional) rather than just the reader in case that makes a difference. Is there a way to check for more detailed error logs to help track down the problem?
Thank you.

Every information you can provide would be useful, would be great if you could provide some screenshots. Use the following steps to archive a PDF file.

1. In LWA, click the "Add to archive" button
2. Select "<URL>" in the Application field
3. Enter the following URL: http://www.aignes.info/files/test.pdf
4. Click the "Continue" button and archive the page

Thank you for the quick reply. I tested with the supplied pdf with the following results:

When pdf is coming from a remote server, using either URL or internal method (from browser) the capture works correctly in both Firefox2 and IE7 (and it works both when pdf is closed or when it is displayed in browser during capture).

When pdf is stored on the local machine, whether using URL method or opening in IE7 or Firefox2 first and using direct method, it fails. (See image below)

Thank you--Mitch

I saw that there can be a problem. It's now on the list for the next version...

In the current version it works for me when I select "<URL>" and explicitly use the file:// protocol in the URL field. The next version of LWA will have a more generic way to add PDF files from a hard disk.

Thank you....we have a local server so as a workaround I am placing on local server and capturing thru the browser.

Thanks again for a great product. Please let me know if you need testing assistance on the next update.

I have uploaded a beta where this should work: http://www.aignes.com/beta.htm

Probably you could run a small test with your local PDF files...
