|
|
Hi
For checking pdf or xls files I have set Website Watcher to compare date of modification. The problem is that sometimes when Website Watcher cannot access primary server where such files are stored, it is redirected to backup server where modification date of given file is different and it detects change where in fact content of the file is the same. If such problem repeats, Website Watcher would detect changes quite often, although in fact it would always compare two files.
I was wondering if it would be possible to force Website Wacher to detect changes only when the modification date is more recent than previous one. In other words, if Website Watcher would somehow find the file with older modification date it would ignore it. Please let me know if it can be somehow resolved with current functionalities and if not, will it be possible to add such functionality? Thanks in advance.
Best,
Gelito |

It's currently not possible, but it might be be an interesting improvement.
Could you please provide a concrete URL where this happens? Then we can run some tests here... _________________ Martin Aignesberger [SUPPORT] |

Thanks. I could already reproduce it with the first XLS file and I'll try to find a working solution in v5. _________________ Martin Aignesberger [SUPPORT] |

Hi Martin,
I have noticed that this adjustment does not work for files where date is the same, but just time of modification is different. Could you please check it? I am receiving alerts for this file quite often now.

Thanks in advance for your help! |

During the last few days I got one update where the time was increased, WSW alerted the updated correctly. If the date/time was decreased, WSW detected that correctly and didn't alert an update. So I cannot see a wrong WSW behavior.
If you have a case where WSW also alerts an update when the date/time has decreased, please export and send me that bookmark without a further check. _________________ Martin Aignesberger [SUPPORT] |

Ha! Shortly after I posted my previous reply, I had this behavior. It seems that it happens only when the previous check reported an error and the following check is successful with a lower date/time. I'll debug into that problem now... _________________ Martin Aignesberger [SUPPORT] |

This should be solved in version 2010 (10.1). _________________ Martin Aignesberger [SUPPORT] |
